THE ANDERSON BROTHERS BANK
INVITATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The 8th Annual ABB Invitational High School Golf Championship will be held March 24th & 25th.  Since its inception, this prestigious event has enjoyed remarkable growth, and early indications are that this year's tournament will continue this trend as it welcomes teams from 3 states.

The Country Club of South Carolina (Florence, SC) will host the opening round on Monday, March 24th, and the final round will be held at The Dusty Hills Country Club (Marion, SC) on Tuesday, March 25th.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

The ABB Invitational was inaugurated in March 2000.  The tournament was originally established as a 36-hole stroke play competition for High School Golf teams from the Pee Dee Area of South Carolina. Held every spring since 2000 the tournament has been open to both public and private school golf teams.

The tournament, through steady promotion, developed into more than a regional event. Teams from all over the state of South Carolina now compete in the tournament. In 2004 the tournament was elevated in status with acceptance to the South Carolina Junior Golf Association's official tournament list for individual state rankings.

2008 will see tournament officials expanding the field to include teams from North Carolina and Georgia. With the expanded field including contestants from 3 states the tournament will be on track to be a National Ranking Points tournament through Golf Week Magazine.

The Tournament is conducted on two dramatic courses, The Country Club of South Carolina and Dusty Hills Country Club. The Country Club of South Carolina was built in the late 1960's under the direction of the late Grant Bennett with the golf course designed by Ellis Maples. The CCSC is a wonderful championship venue that has hosted many top amateur and professional tournaments including a tour stop for the now Nationwide Tour. The CCSC is also the home golf course for the Francis Marion University Golf Team (2003 Division II National Champions). Dusty Hills Country Club is the third oldest golf club in the state of South Carolina following the Country Club of Charleston and Palmetto Golf Club. The original course was built in 1921 at its present location. The original routing was changed in 1965 with the addition of 9 new holes. DHCC has hosted several top amateur golf tournaments including the 1938 South Carolina State Amateur.

During the past eight years the tournament has featured a number of top juniors from the state of South Carolina. Past individual champions include now top collegiate players: Tripp McAlister (Coastal Carolina), Colby Hyduke (Newberry), Kellen Altman (College of Charleston), Christopher Couch (Francis Marion), Baker Elmore (USC), and Paul Woodbury (USC).

The tournament is fortunate to be able to conduct their event at two superb facilities with professional staffs eager to accommodate all contestants. The atmosphere and professionalism of all who are associated with the tournament has played an integral part in establishing the tournament as one of the most popular High School Tournaments in South Carolina.
