ANDERSON BROTHERS BANK INVITATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

March 28, 2008

The Furies of Forsyth Country Day School came riding into town from Lewisville, NC and rode off with a 6 shot victory in the 8th annual installment of The Anderson Brothers Bank Invitational High School Golf Championship. After the first day of play the Furies had a 5 shot lead over the Raider’s of Laurens High School and a 13 shot margin over West Henderson High School. With improved weather conditions and a different golf course the Raider's had their sights on running down the first round leaders on day two but were unable to put any pressure on the Furies as the Furies increased their lead to 9 shots after the front 9. Laurens was able to close ground on the back 9 but came up short on their bid to take over the Furies. West Henderson High School improved their score by 11 shots on the second day and maintained their 3rd place position.

Tate Oakley from Forsyth Country Day School was the Tournament Medalist with a two day total of 145. Oakley was pushed hard by Laurens's Walt Todd who finished at 147.

The Anderson Brothers Bank Golf Championship is one of South Carolina's premier High School Golf Tournaments. The 36 Hole Tournament is played every spring on two great golf courses, The Country Club of South Carolina and Dusty Hills Country Club.  Teams competing this year were from South Carolina and North Carolina.
